Scandinavian interior design is one of my favourites.
It is probably because of me being born and raised in The Netherlands, that I am very attracted to the Scandinavian style. Although The Netherlands is not Scandinavian at all, we do seem to pick up the ‘simple’, functional and minimalistic approach that the Scandinavian style brings. Personally I like to mix it up with some other style elements though.
This style has developed a lot of sub-styles over the years. You can find very colourfull or monochromatic Sandinavian rooms. Some are extreme minimalistic and some have lots of accessories. But overal you can say the following about Scandinavian interiors:
A popular minimalistic look featuring gentle contours, playful accent colors, and a balance of engineered and organic materials, Scandinavian furniture is simple, contemporary, and functional.
Colors: Natural, grey, black and white with pastell accents.
Materials: Wood, wool, leather, light fabrics.
Shapes: All shapes.
Decor: Simple, modern and contemporary.
